Clerk of Court

Beaureguard Parish Clerk of Court

Brian S. Lestage was elected to the office of Clerk of Court of Beauregard Parish for the term beginning July 1, 2008. He has received the designation of Certified Clerk of Court by the Louisiana Clerks of Court Association. He was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Clerk of Court association in April of 2012and served on the board through June of 2019. Mr. Lestage was re-elected as President of the Louisiana Clerks of Court Association Board of Directors of the for the year of 2019 - 2020 and has served since that date as Past - President through July 2022. In 2013, Mr. Lestage was appointed by Governor Bobby Jindal to the Advisory Board of the Louisiana State Archives and he served on that board until...

Prior to his installation as Clerk, he practiced law with the local firm Hall, Lestage & Landreneau. He practiced with that firm for a period of twenty years with a concentration in the areas of civil and real estate law. Mr. Lestage obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies from Northeast Louisiana University, now the University of Louisiana at Monroe, in May, 1983 and his Juris Doctorate degree from Southern University Law Center on May, 1986. While pursuing his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate degrees, he worked as a clerk for law firms in Monroe and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has obtained over 250 additional hours of continuing legal education including all areas of law since his graduation from law school.

Mr. Lestage has made a commitment to bring technology that will provide internet access to the records in his office. He began implementing that technology shortly after having been elected. He applied for and received a grant from the Louisiana Supreme Court for that purpose in 2008. Under his direction over a million documents have been imaged and are now preserved electronically. Internet access to those documents is essential, he believes. Although technology has been a major focus of the office to better serve the public, the Beauregard Parish Clerk of Courts office continues to provide the personal, competent and courteous public service to which the citizens of Beauregard Parish deserve.

Mr. Lestage has made a commitment to receive no tax revenues to operate his office; rather he believes that sound fiscal budget funded through filing fees, which are virtually the same as when he took office, is the only appropriate way to operate such a public office.

The Clerk of Court staff are trained professionals; however, they are prohibited from giving any legal advice. Information regarding legal procedures may be obtained in any law library or by contacting an area attorney.
